About the Creator
Demi Pena-Chavez created Facing Food Allergies as part of her senior project. She attends the State University of New York at Purchase College. She is graduating with the class of 2022 with a B.S. in Communications.
Demi has suffered from severe allergies since she was young. At the age of 2, her parents found out about her nut allergy after she had a bad reaction to pistachio ice cream. She was then diagnosed with allergies for peanuts, tree nut allergy, milk, eggs, and animal fur and dandruff. On top of that, she was diagnosed with eczema and asthma.
While she outgrew her milk and egg allergy, to this day she still suffers from a severe nut allergy. She has grown more passionate over the years for spreading food allergy awareness and prioritizing her own allergy safety. She hopes to enlighten people about the importance of food allergy education.
